CREATIONS

V/\NISH

V/\NISH is an interdisciplinary exploration of the relationship between ephemerality and permanence. The world is made up of so much that disappears, yet society tends to cling to things that stay. Physical and tangible over the experienced and felt. V/\NISH questions this notion and attempts to reveal the beauty in the latter. In the binary created for this work, movement represents ephemerality and a drawn animation represents permanence. V/\NISH brings the viewer along a journey to a moment that can never be recreated; a moment that turns into nothing but a memory. In a world that prefers the lasting, V/\NISH offers the fleeting; giving an instantaneous, momentary, blip in time where all that is to be done is to exist and experience. A burning flame, a gust of wind, a blooming flower~all bound by a lifetime and all the more beautiful for it.

crumbs

crumbs is an interdisciplinary exploration shared through a durational installation that capitalizes on the dichotomy of living and unliving. Through this installation, I offer the human form as an ephemeral sculpture. Capitalizing on the analysis of ephemerality, construction and deconstruction is implemented of both movement as well as visual sculptural works. The process of taking apart is not valued within art. We often make and show the finished product at the climax of its being. To counter this, the deconstruction and segmentation of the body and the sculptures are highlighted throughout the piece. crumbs is an offering and a glimpse of leftover and forgotten pieces.

What do you wish the world to be?

Commissioned for The Kennedy Center's #ArtUnderAMinute series.

When you close your eyes, what do you wish the world to be? Yesterday was yesterday, today is now, and tomorrow may be. In order to depict the future, we must acknowledge the present. All we have is now; here in this instantaneous, present, moment in time. The world is at a standstill. We can either restore the world that existed before or take this as an opportunity to build anew. I vote for the latter; let us build our own utopia. I offer a way to shift perspectives while staying in the now. Time is precious, and instead of putting our lives on hold, it is important to live through the present. In under a minute, I encourage the viewer to consider what they wish the world to be. What can you do right now to create the world you see when you close your eyes?

in the air, in the making

in the air, in the making is an experimental interdisciplinary exploration of diving into the deep end and learning how to swim. Concocted from improvised movement practice, an amateur violin score, and a first-timer's animations, all stemming from a singular entity—me. We are all up in the air, we are all forever in the making.
